Brent Whitley, PMHNP

About Peak Mental Health

Peak Mental Health provides comprehensive and compassionate psychiatric care at the office in Phoenix, Arizona. Brent Whitley, PMHNP, combines years of clinical experience with a passion for delivering exceptional care. He works closely with teens and adults, helping them overcome their mental health challenges and move forward into a rewarding life.

Brent received a Bachelor of Science in molecular biology from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. Then, he went to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he obtained two master’s degrees, one in chemistry and the other in nursing. He is fully licensed to practice as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) and advanced practice registered nurse (APRN).

Before opening his private practice, Brent gained years of experience providing psychiatric care in multiple settings, including an inpatient crisis unit and as a case manager and advocate for patients.
People seek Brent’s professional care for the full range of mental health disorders, from anxiety, depression, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) to insomnia and bipolar disorder. He also specializes in outpatient addiction treatment, allowing patients with opioid use disorder to safely detox and recover without entering an inpatient facility.

After completing a thorough psychiatric evaluation, Brent develops individualized treatment plans that fit each person’s goals and help them overcome mental health challenges. He provides medication management, therapy, and integrative care that incorporates lifestyle recommendations to improve each person’s well-being.

Nicole Dressler, DNP, PMHNP-BC

Nicole Dressler holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Arizona. Her expertise lies in addressing complex mental health conditions such as treatment-resistant depression and ADHD. She adopts a patient-centered approach, deeply committed to involving patients actively in their care to enhance understanding and effective management of their conditions.

 

As a mother, Nicole has a profound connection to women’s mental health during the peripartum and postpartum periods, advocating for targeted support and interventions tailored to the unique challenges of these stages. Her holistic, empathetic approach ensures that treatment plans are comprehensively tailored to each individual’s needs and goals, promoting optimal mental health outcomes.

Kara Shrader, MSN, PMHNP-BC

Kara Shrader earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, graduating summa cum laude and as class valedictorian. Her clinical practice is centered on a patient-focused model of care, emphasizing empathy, respect, and active patient participation to create personalized and effective treatment plans.

 

Kara’s holistic approach extends to incorporating lifestyle adjustments and social supports into care, ensuring a comprehensive treatment strategy. Her dedication to mental health care is further demonstrated by her leadership in community health initiatives and her commitment to continuous learning to integrate the latest evidence-based practices.
